CBRE, Marina Bay Financial Centre

CBRE’s Marina Bay workplace uses adaptive soundscaping to support focus, comfort and acoustic consistency across a single, multi-zone floorplate. Valeo Technology delivered a 14-zone strategy on Moodsonic, tuned to how each area is used, as a subtle, always-on layer designed to reduce distraction and support speech privacy, with settings adjusted in software rather than at the rack.

The challenge

One floor, three jobs

A single floorplate had to support focused work, collaboration and client-facing experience at once. Conventional acoustic treatment controls the physical environment. The soundscape complements it with content and settings designed for each activity across the day.

“Most offices just play generic background sounds like pink noise. With biophilic and harmonic content we can have the audio experience contribute more.”

Simon Long, then Senior Director of Client Technology Consulting, CBRE. Quoted in Inavate APAC, October 2025.

What CBRE needed was a sound strategy that works quietly in the background, supports different zones, and can be adjusted over time as the workplace evolves.

The approach

Fourteen zones, tuned and monitored

Natural, generative soundscapes delivered through the workplace audio layer, each zone tuned to its use, with the ability to monitor and adjust the environment over time. It complements the existing acoustic treatment rather than replacing it.

14
audio zones
Front and back of house, focus rooms, wellness and quiet spaces, café and client-facing areas.
15
acoustic sensors
Monitoring acoustic conditions across the facility to inform how content responds, alongside the programmed schedules. Acoustic data is processed into metadata for sound levels, frequency and events. It is not conversation recording.
28
meeting rooms
Up from nine at the previous facility, which changed the acoustic problem entirely.
120

Networked PoE pendants on a multi-zone platform, so zones can be regrouped in software without touching the ceiling. Figure as published in the Bluesound Professional case study.

Who did what

Stated exactly

Valeo Technology

The soundscaping design, the zone strategy, and commissioning of the Moodsonic system.

Esco

Systems integrator for the wider AV, control and building technology scope.

Hewshott

Consultants.

CBRE

Client, and the source of the workplace concept.

The project won the Corporate category at the Inavate APAC Awards 2025. The credited entrants were CBRE and Esco | GPA Singapore. Valeo Technology was not a credited entrant and does not claim that award.

What the client got

Sound as a source of data, not just comfort

The environment reads the room

“If a focus room is being used, and I see the noise levels come up to around 48 decibels and above, I know that the user is on a call.”

Simon Long, then Senior Director of Client Technology Consulting, CBRE. Inavate APAC, October 2025.

And the floor can be re-zoned in software

Because zoning lives in the platform rather than in the cabling, existing loudspeakers can be regrouped in software where their coverage remains suitable, subject to the acoustic requirements of the new layout.

Outcome

Calmer, consistent, unobtrusive

A calmer and more consistent sound environment across all fourteen zones, supporting focus, comfort and speech privacy while remaining unobtrusive and straightforward to manage.

For the project team, the sound layer becomes part of the everyday workplace experience rather than another system to run, and it can be re-tuned as the way the floor is used changes.

On the record

“Architects have been creating visually impressive office spaces for years, but acoustics are often overlooked.”

Marcus Rose, Valeo Technology. Quoted in FMJ, May 2026.
